“Evan Almighty” Makes $32M

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

To most people this is a lot of money well it is for this type of movie as well. But for “Evan Almighty” this is quite a low number for how much this movie cost to produce. And that lucky number is $175M, so only making $32M on its opening weekend is not quite so much. Also “Evan Almighty” is the equal to “Bruce Almighty” staring Jim Carrey, made about $68M its opening weekend two years ago. This may have been that “Bruce Almighty” was to me a more original, more interesting story. I still have not seen “Evan Almighty” yet but the production company along with many critic reviews say it’s a comedy for the family which they were aiming for. Since it was a family film that may have hurt it in the opening box office sales but the production company says family films keep their momentum longer and be a better seller longer DVD and be played more on TV networks. I can see Disney paying a lot of money for the rights to play it many times over on their TV station non other than Disney. They better hope they are right otherwise they might not make all their money back, but I think they will make it, family films to me seem to always do well overtime. And I guess time will only tells us, but if you have not seen this yet I think it may be worth your time and money because to me, even though it doesn’t have the adult humor “Bruce Almighty” had I think it does have something worth while.

Even though it did only make $32M its opening weekend it did take number one for this weekend box office sales by about $12M. And last weekend’s number one “Fantastic 4: the Rise of the Silver Surfer” went down to number three with $20m, almost only going down by one but lost to “1408″ by only a few hundred thousand.

For those who have not seen it and do not know if you would like, well I made a post a few days ago with a trailer in it so you can check it out and see if you might like it.

For all of you that have seen it, what did you think about it?

Celebs Going “Green”

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

As most of you know the term “green” usually refers to the maybe, and I say maybe because do we know of the long term effects of these current alternative fuels and energies?, better alternative fuels and types of energy. To me most are just band aids of what I have read and heard of environmentalists talk about. They say we need to find alternative fuel sourced and energies, which I’m all for, as long as it’s cheaper and becomes practical and easy. But then I see hybrid cars and other things in that nature that to me are just basically the same thing as normal cars, just do not have to go to the gas station as much, and shouldn’t it release the same about of “harmful” carbons but just take longer? Then there are electric cars, I guess its “green” but how do you get most of the electricity, or enough electricity if everyone had those types of cars. Also it is just too new; the batteries alone just cost way too much and are not efficient enough form to take the plunge into those cars. I’ll try to do my par, in other ways.

Anyways as the title reads many celebs have taken the plunge into going “green”. Also since they are celebs and in the media’s attention all the time, along with millions of people who look up to them they can make a huge impact and even get some of their fellow celeb friends into going “green” as well. Hey millions of people take after their fashions and whatnot why not this? One of these celebs that have gone “green” is Owen Wilson, from “You, Me and Dupree” and “The Wedding Crashers”, has done many things, and continuing to do more things to help out in the cause. One of the first things he did was he got a Prius, which is a hybrid car. After he read and heard more about what is going wrong with the environment and how serious it was he decided to do a few more things to help out. He decided to add some solar panels do his house to power things up. And I’m sure he will continue to spread awareness and continue to do his part in saving our environment. He also wrote a piece for a book entitled “The Green Book: The Everyday Guide to Saving the Planet One Simple Step at a Time”, as you can read from the title it is about going “green” and what you can do to help out.

But you know Owen Wilson is not the only celeb to have gone green, so siry. Here are just some celebs that I found that have gone “green”, in no order either, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, Leo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, that NSync singer Justin Timberlake, that super hilarious son of a gun Will Ferrell, and none other than George Clooney. Most of those people drive the hybrid Prius. But one stands out to me, and that person is George Clooney since he drives the electric car, which is kind of cool. I’m sure there are more, and will be more but those are the ones I found.

Now it’s your turn readers, what do you think about this environmental talk? Do you agree or disagree, and why. Do you know anymore celebs that are “green”, or are yourself gone “green”?

George Clooney in Italy

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Many celebrities do this for others out of the kindness of their heart, also it makes them look good, well George Clooney, may know him from Ocean’ 11, 12, and 13 and many other movies and if your a chick you most likely know this man  , is no exception. But Clooney’s work was a bit different than normal good deeds celebrities participate in.

What Cloony participated in was a protest in some building contracts that were going to build more parking lots, you may be think so what more parking lots, but first let me tell you where this is all taking place. It is at Clooney’s house in Laglio, Italy; it is a small town near a harbor. One of the main reasons why they are thinking of building new and more parking lots along with other structures is because Clooney’s presence there has increased the tourism in the small town.

So what Clooney, along with many of the other townsfolk did was they protested and signed a petition, he was one of them, he did not want this lovely town to be destroyed because of him. Also might have been because he may want privacy when he goes there, which is very understandable. With three fourths of the town’s signatures on the petition the mayor throughout the plans to build most of the construction plans and harming the harbor. So for now the town is saved till more plans, or the left over plans get back into the works again. Even though the problem might have been caused by Clooney at least he did his part in trying to stop the problem, and it looks like he succeeded.

“Evan Almighty” In Theaters!

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

As most of you know “Even Almighty” comes out today, June 22, 2007, and well I think it will do mighty fine. This movie stars the one and only Steve Carell, we all know his hilarious acting from “40 Year Old Virgin”, and “Anchorman”! “Even Almighty” is really a sequel to the hilarious movie “Bruce Almighty” staring Jim Carry and Jennifer Aniston. “Even Almighty” is again directed and written by the same people that did “Bruce Almighty”, so we should expect the same quality film and expect it to do good, also since it stars Steve we should expect something way different, well at least a different type of comedy, and we should diffidently expect comedy!

To me Steve Carrel fits this part perfectly. The reason why I think this is because of his past acting jobs he has had, well mainly “40 Year Old Virgin”, and “Anchorman” because in those movies he would go crazy and start yelling even if he did not know why. Here is a production photo of a reason why he fits the part.

Another reason why I think this will be a great movie, and a funny one, is that Wanda Sykes is in it. You may know her from “Monster-In-Law”, “My Super Ex-Girlfriend”, or “Down to Earth”. She also did Stella’s voice in the animated film “Over the Hedge”. Or you could have seen her on Comedy Central giving one of her stand up acts. Just her being in the film just makes me know for sure that she will bring something funny to the table, even though we all know Steve will too. She is a real funny gal and if you like comics and comedy movie I know you will like her comedy as well.

Anyways here is the trailer to get the rest of you pumped up as well.

Transformers 7.4.7

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

As most of you know “Transformers” the movie comes out on Independence Day, July 4, 2007. I just gotta say this movie looks insane. It looks like it will have some great action scenes, well most of it will be action. It also looks like it will have some great comedy as well in it, mostly just by the first scene in the new trailer when his dad drives by the Porsche dealership to get to the used car dealership where he gets his “car”, transformer.

Anyways here is the “Transformers” Trailer, and remember the movie comes out 7.4.7! I know I just might go see it.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Plot:

Basically is all about Ron (Will Ferrel) in the 70’s, and him being San Diego’s (aka a Whales Vagina  ) man, the news man that is! But one day he meets this lady, and something is way different about her. This later eventually tries to take over Ron’s domain, the news. Se even reads the news, which is a defiant no no. This lady was named, Veronica Corningstone, a reporter from many other news stations, and she was the one taking over Ron’s domain. She worked hard for her spot; she did crappy assignments just for her change, her change to be at the top, to be an anchor.

Rating:

10/10

Favorite Character:

I do not have a single favorite character; I do not think you can just choose one. It has to be Ron and his news crew, Champ, Brick, and Brian. All four of them make this movie; they all bring something different to the table. You have Ron’s leadership and the all American man. Then you got champ, the um sports fanatic who can be a little gay and girly at times but then funny at others, like his s&*t covered squirrel. Then there’s Brick Tamland, just saying his name makes me laugh, he is just hilarious, all his yelling just because everyone else is, or him and is hand grenade. Then you got Brian Fantana who names his nads, kind of weird but still funny, well mostly disturbing and weird.

Favorite Quote:

Ron Burgundy: Boy, that escalated quickly… I mean, that really got out of hand fast.
Champ Kind: It jumped up a notch.
Ron Burgundy: It did, didn’t it?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, I stabbed a man in the heart.
Ron Burgundy: I saw that. Brick killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident.
Ron Burgundy: Brick, I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safe house or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you’re probably wanted for murder.

Favorite Part:

It has to be where my favorite quote is from, the fight scene. Here is the overview of it so you all can remember.

First they decide to get suites, and they do that jump heel clip thing. Then Brick takes them on a “shortcut” and Brian asks him where the store is and Brick just rambles about something other than the shortcut and the store. Then Wes Mantooth and his news crew encircle Ron and his crew like prey in the wild. They about to get into a fight and other news crew show up, along with Arturo Mendes and his Spanish news crew. So everyone is there, and Ron gives the one and only golden rule, “No touching of the hair or face, and that is it!”. They all of course agree. They all have their weapons and brick has a, well a grenade, and they ask him where he got it and he says he does not know. Well you probably know what happens next, they all get in a huge fight, random horses appear, and a guy on fire runs across the screen on fire, completely random  and well they hear the police sirens and Arturo yells “Policia!”. They all scatter and then Ron and his crew are in Ron’s office and they say my favorite quote.

Overall:

Overall the movie is one great comedy; I think most will enjoy it very much. Also if you like the all American stereotypical version of a guy, this is a diffident must see. And if you like any of Will Ferrel’s other movies you will diffidently love this movie.

You:

Now let us hear from you the readers, and maybe watchers of the movie, gives us you input on the movie, did you love it, hate it, think it was okay, and why you think so.

Ben Stiller “In Deep”?

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Ben Stiller has been reported to be working on a new movie entitled “In Deep”. Right now he is only producing the movie, but he may just star in it as well. The movie is basically about a man who gets a parking ticket, and tries to get out of it, along with all the other nightmares that go along with it. And during the whole time after getting the ticket he finds himself in more, and more criminal allegations.

I’m hoping this will be another great comedy from Stiller, but if not, it sure will hopefully be a great movie in general.

Steve Carell

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Steve Carell, or better known as Brick from “Anchorman”, Was one of the lucky few to be invited to be a voter for the prestigious Academy Awards. Reason why is was one a lucky few is because only 150 people are elected into it, and they want to have less and less because there are about 6,000 in it. Steve completly deserves the invite mainly because of all the hilarious movies he was in, and the unparalleled acting he did in “Anchorman”, “40 Year Old Virgin”, and many others, along with many more to come, like “Even Almighty”.

Also they just don’t accept A’ list celebrities and movie stars, they also accept directors, producers, graphic designers, editors, basically anyone that works on movies or on a set. So just to be selected out of all the people eligible is a huge honor. You can also basically say who gets to carry home one of those coveted golden man.

Steve Carell was not the only A’ lister celebrity to make it on the headlines and make it in the Academy, Jennifer Aniston, or Rachel Green from “Friends”. She again is one of the lucky few. She also to me deserves it for her phenomenal job in “Friends”, along with many other great movies, like “Office Space”.
